Simulation System

The PSI gas network simulation module enables network planning, simulation and reconstruction of past event scenarios to be performed for any given gas grid taking account of differing boundary values and objectives. The module can perform three types of simulation:

  • Real-time simulation
  • Cyclic forecast simulation
  • Look-ahead simulation including what-if analysis

All three modes also allow cyclic observation of the grid to permit situational analysis.

In integrated form the PSI gas network simulation module utilises the transient data of a gas grid to perform its simulation. However this is also possible in a standalone mode where either steady state or transient data can be used.

Functions include:

  • Analysis of the effects on an existing gas grid of new supply, delivery, transport or storage contracts
  • Dimensioning and establishing new segments and stations in the existing grid
  • Calculation of pressure and flow characteristics in an existing or planned gas grid
  • Provision for time and location gas composition variables
  • Determination of capacity utilisation levels under various supply conditions
