PSI Awarded Another Control System Contract for Liberalised Gas Market
Migration of the VNG gas management system to the new generation
Berlin, 28 February 2007 – The PSI AG has been contracted by the eastern German gas supplier VNG - Verbundnetz Gas AG, with the migration of the existing gas management system to the current version 7 of the PSI control system PSIcontrol. PSIcontrol V7 was developed for the increased demands of the liberalised gas market and has already been successfully implemented in numerous German and international gas suppliers.
VNG has been using a gas management system provided by PSI for ten years. The core of the current solution is the control system PSIcontrol in version 6, which VNG, as service provider, primarily employs for the monitoring and control of the high-pressure gas grid of the ONTRAS – VNG Gas Transport GmbH. With the migration to the new PSIcontrol V7 it is intended to optimise the power of the system for the increased demands of the liberalised gas market. The most important features are the technical monitoring and control of the transportation network and the storage, the simulation of the complete gas network, including the determination of the gas property for the invoicing of gas deliveries and the provision of prognosis values for the simulation and contract handling system of the transportation network operator.
The VNG Group is a natural gas wholesaler and energy service provider for public utilities, regional suppliers and industrial companies as well as logistic partners for natural gas trading and natural gas transportation companies. The core business is the trade, transportation and storage of natural gas. In addition, VNG supports their customers with energy services and consulting and cooperation in the optimization of business processes and the reliable operation of gas-technical systems.
PSI AG develops and integrates individual solutions, on the basis of its own software, for energy management (electricity, gas, oil, water), cross-company production management (steel, machinery, automotive, logistics) and infrastructure management for telecommunications, transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs more than 1,000 persons in the group.
