PSI Concludes Strategic Contract with Shell Energy Europe

Gas planning and optimisation for the support of critical global business processes

Berlin, 22 March 2007 – PSI Büsing & Buchwald GmbH has concluded a contract with Shell Energy Europe, headquartered in The Hague, for the European-wide use of their gas planning and optimisation system. The solution now represents the future global standard at Shell Gas & Power for the “Gas portfolio planning and long term optimisation“ business and is therefore a part of the strategic application portfolio at Shell Gas and Power.

The PSI Büsing & Buchwald solution serves the medium and long-term planning of the energy trading and supports the functions of the gas purchasing and sales in the daily trading business. The integrated optimisation system serves to support the decision-making in the planning and operations of the trading business, taking into consideration the storage and all the essential market parameters such as price developments and sales scenarios.

Dr. Ludolf Luehmann, CIO of Shell Energy Europe, says; “PSI Büsing & Buchwald has now become an important partner for Shell Gas and Power in the implementation of critical business processes.“

The system for gas planning and optimisation, which is a component of the integrated solution portfolio for energy trading and sales, has already been implemented successfully at many companies in the energy business. In the last few weeks the European-wide introduction of the system at Shell was commenced.
