PSI Group with New Segment Structure Starting in 2007
Berlin, 19 January 2007 - The PSI AG has implemented another important step toward modernization and export orientation of the Group. Instead of the segmentation in Network, Production and Information Management that has existed since 2002, in the future the Group will consist of the segments Energy Management, Production Management and Infrastructure Management. The Infrastructure Management is, unlike the former Information Management, oriented clearly towards solutions that are not limited to the German market, but rather which can be exported to the growth markets in Eastern Europe and Asia.
Since 1 January 2007, the Network Management segment, where the structure reflected the multi-utility concept of the nineties, has begun concentrating strictly on energy management solutions for Germany and the international market. This consists of systems for the electricity and gas utilities markets as well as for the growing energy trading and sales markets. Within the Group-wide platform strategy, PSI will drive the convergence of the control systems cores in Energy Management. This will improve the conditions for a further growth in exports and the use of core products in other business units. The Production Management segment was expanded, as reported in December, by the transportation management activities in logistics. New orders grew by 18% in 2006.
The Information Management segment, which to date provided individual and consulting services in the German market, will be oriented at the target market Infrastructure Management. To that end, the previously separated control systems activities of the units traffic, telecommunication and safety will be combined in the PSI Transportation GmbH under the new name PSI Transcom GmbH and assigned to the segment. The PSI Transcom GmbH has a staff of 80 persons at the sites Berlin, Aschaffenburg and Düsseldorf and has budgeted sales of about 15 million euros for 2007.
PSI AG
develops and integrates individual solutions, on the basis of its own software, for energy management (electricity, gas, oil, water), cross-company production management (steel, machinery, automotive, logistics) and infrastructure management for telecommunications, transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs more than 1,000 persons in the group.
